CHRIS DAVIS // Senior Pastor
Pastor Chris has been faithfully serving as our senior pastor since being called to Northside in 2020. With a wealth of experience in church leadership and a deep passion for spiritual growth, he has led our congregation to thrive both spiritually and numerically. Under his guidance, our church has experienced renewed vision and purpose, helping us impact our community in meaningful ways.
Chris is a graduate of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Evangelism and Church Planting, equipping him to strengthen and energize the church. His dedication to the mission of Christ shines through in every aspect of his leadership.
He and his wife, Sheri, have built a loving family, blessed with two daughters and one grandson. Outside of his pastoral duties, Pastor Chris enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, and keeping up with sports. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and the way God has used him to shepherd our church family with wisdom and grace.
NICK BURKE // Worship Pastor
Pastor Nick Burke joined our team in July 2024, bringing nearly 25 years of ministry experience, most of which has been dedicated to leading worship. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music and Religion with an emphasis in Pastoral Leadership from Liberty University, where he also met his wife, Alicia. Together, they have two daughters, Madison and Ella, who bring much joy to their family life.
Throughout his years in ministry, Pastor Nick has been deeply passionate about guiding others in worship and helping them grow spiritually. Beyond leading worship he enjoys teaching the Bible encouraging and strengthening families through pastoral counseling.
When he’s not serving at church, Pastor Nick enjoys working in his yard, taking family trips to Disney, and unwinding at home with his wife and daughters. We are grateful to have him as part of our team and church family.
GARY UPCHURCH // Student Pastor
Pastor Gary Upchurch joined our team in 2022, bringing with him nearly three decades of ministry experience and a deep passion for youth discipleship. Having faithfully served in multiple churches across North Central Florida since 1996, Pastor Gary has a heart for guiding the next generation into a closer relationship with Christ. His warm, approachable nature allows him to connect with students in meaningful ways, inspiring them to grow spiritually.
Gary holds a BA in Ministry Studies from the Baptist College of Florida, equipping him with both the knowledge and pastoral skills to lead effectively. His leadership is marked by a genuine love for young people and a commitment to their spiritual development.
He is happily married to his wife, Stacie. Gary’s family plays a vital role in his life and ministry, and they cherish spending time together. We are grateful for Pastor Gary’s leadership and his unwavering dedication to investing in the spiritual growth of our youth.
ALICIA BURKE // Children’s Coordinator
Alicia Burke joined our team in July 2024, and her dedication shines through in every role she holds. As our Children’s Coordinator, elementary school vice-principal, and high school Bible teacher, Alicia plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation. Her primary passion is teaching God’s Word and nurturing young people to develop a deep love for the Lord, even while balancing her many responsibilities.
Alicia is a proud Liberty University alumna, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a focus on Human and Family Services. Her strong educational background is reflected in her heart for guiding both students and families.
Married to her husband, Nick, since 2007, Alicia and Nick have two daughters, Madison and Ella. In her free time, Alicia enjoys family moments, crafting, and spending time with their dogs. We are blessed to have Alicia’s heart and leadership within both our church and school community.
RICK PRICE // NCA Principal
Rick Price joined the Northside Christian Academy leadership team in 2020, bringing with him a distinguished career in both education and military service. A former U.S. Air Force officer and ROTC leader, Rick’s extensive experience in leadership, discipline, and education has made a significant impact on our academy. His dedication to fostering both academic excellence and spiritual growth sets him apart as a leader who cares deeply about shaping the next generation.
Rick is not only committed to academic success but is also passionate about helping students grow in their faith and character. His vision for Northside Christian Academy is to create an environment where students thrive academically while also developing a strong, Christ-centered foundation.
Rick is married to his wonderful wife, Joan, who also serves on staff as the event coordinator for NCA. Together, they have one daughter, Makayla, who is currently a senior at NCA. We are incredibly blessed to have the Price family as part of our church and school community, and we are grateful for Rick’s leadership, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
MICHELE POYNER // Preschool Director
Michele Poyner joined our team in July of 2022, bringing with her a wealth of experience from 28 years in ministry, serving in areas like music, student, children, and women’s ministries. She holds an FCCPC from Childcare Education Institute and a Director Credential with a VPK Endorsement from Southeastern University. Michele was married to Pastor Billy Poyner in 2000 until his passing in 2021, and they have been blessed with four children.
Michele enjoys bible journaling, playing the piano and guitar, singing, and decorating. When she’s not busy with ministry or family, she loves to relax with a cozy blanket, a hot latte, and a good book or movie—especially in the cooler weather, surrounded by all things pumpkin!
APRIL PILCHER // Administrative Assistant – Finances
April has been a dedicated member of the Northside team for over 18 years. She began her journey with Northside Christian Academy, serving in the classroom from 2006 to 2015, before transitioning to her current role as Administrative Assistant of Finances in 2016. April holds a degree from Santa Fe Community College and is married to her husband, Jason. Together, they have three daughters—Ashlyn, Amberlyn, and Aniston—who are all proud graduates of NCA.<br>
In her free time, April loves relaxing by the lake or enjoying movie nights with her family. The Pilcher family has been active members of Northside Baptist Church since 1995, and we are incredibly grateful to have them as a valued part of our church community and staff team.
ASHLEY ALVAREZ // Administrative Assistant
Ashley began serving as our Administrative Assistant since 2023, but her connection to Northside runs much deeper. She began attending with her family in 2002 and grew up within our church community. It was in the youth group where she met her husband, Thomas. Both Ashley and Thomas graduated from Northside Christian Academy and were married in 2014. Together, they are blessed with three children: Liam, Lincoln, and Juliet, all of whom attend our academy and preschool.
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education from the University of North Florida and previously worked at both our Preschool and Academy before transitioning to the church in 2021. Her dedication shines through in the many roles she fills, always serving with grace and care. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys reading and playing cards, tabletop, and video games with her family and friends. We are truly grateful to have her as part of our team, and her contributions continue to bless our church family.
WAYNE STEWART // Facilities Manager
Wayne joined our team in 2024 and has been an essential part of keeping our campus running smoothly as our Facilities Manager. Leading a dedicated maintenance and facilities team, Wayne ensures that everything on campus operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the welcoming environment we all enjoy.
Wayne is married to his wife, Amanda, who also serves on staff at Northside Preschool. His humble, hardworking nature and willingness to help wherever needed make him a valued and appreciated member of our team. We’re truly grateful for Wayne’s leadership and the heart he brings to our church community.
